AI Is Part of Marketing. Are You Up to Speed?

#artificialintelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) is fast becoming as fundamental to customer experience (CX) as CX has become to the business. According to IDC, the global AI market is poised to break the $500 billion mark by 2024. AI is surging as data size and diversity continue to grow and the cloud becomes a feasible option for quickly and economically scaling compute power and data storage. AI and its subcomponents (machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing and even forecasting) are being woven into the analytics arsenal of marketing departments at organizations across industries. Marketers today use AI at different levels: AI-enhanced campaigns to build brand preference; AI-enabled smart agents to continuously engage consumers; and AI-powered marketing technologies to drive efficiency.

10 Ways AI And Machine Learning Are Improving Marketing In 2021

Chief Marketing Officers (CMOs) and the marketing teams they lead are expected to excel at creating customer trust, a brand that exudes empathy and data-driven strategies that deliver results. Personalizing channel experiences at scale works when CMOs strike the perfect balance between their jobs' emotional and logical, data-driven parts. That's what makes being a CMO today so challenging. They've got to have the compassion of a Captain Kirk and the cold, hard logic of a Dr. Spock and know when to use each skill set. CMOs and their teams struggle to keep the emotional and logical parts of their jobs in balance.

Get The Right Balance Between Personalisation And Marketing Automation

#artificialintelligence

Despite all the advances in marketing analytics and technology, the availability of increasingly sophisticated tools for segmentation and targeting, and an ever-expanding array of communication channels, creating that essential, highly personalized connection between the customer and the brand still remains a distant dream for most marketers. More and more, marketers are turning to automation to better understand their audiences and, in turn, to design and deliver campaigns that resonate with the customer in a contextual, relevant way. The results of a 2019 survey on the state of marketing automation published in Social Media Today reported that 75 per cent of marketing teams employ automation tools. Customers too appreciate when brands use technology to create better experiences. The same survey report indicated that almost two-thirds of marketers are concerned that automation will lead to a dilution of personalization.

Predicting marketing performance with Machine Learning

#artificialintelligence

It's difficult for companies to judge how a marketing campaign has performed in the past never mind predicting how one will perform in the future. This becomes increasingly more difficult when multiple types of campaigns are ran over the same period, different products are available or unexpected outside factors influence user behaviour. In this project I will attempt, using multiple machine learning models, to judge how marketing campaigns have performed and predict how they will perform in the future. For the modelling I will be using a synthetic dataset containing information on Starbucks members over a month long period. Due to small size of this dataset there are a number of limitations with the data that I will outline later in this post.

Artificial Intelligence is Set to Explode. Is Your Data up to the Task?

#artificialintelligence

I made some predictions about Artificial intelligence back in January, and I wasn't alone in stating that AI is likely to become the next transformational technology on the horizon for marketers, and the sales teams we support. I'll go so far as to say I think AI could become as ubiquitous as the telephone or computer. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is already advancing so quickly that computers can learn specific tasks without being programmed to do so, and many experts are predicting it will become integral in marketing and marketing automation systems. Forbes contributor and marketing expert Andrew Stephens recently stated what we've been thinking: "Marketers have more insights-related tools at their disposal that facilitate true data-driven decision making, but AI is needed to help integrate across tools, datasets, and platforms." With all the data, analytics software, marketing tools, and marketing technology software out there--we estimate it's now 5,000 tools and growing--keeping track of and integrating this data will be increasingly more complicated and difficult.

Last year a former product team peer referred Datorama to connect with me. Usually I don't review vertical industry analytics solutions but the marketing angle was appealing to me. Secret be toldโ€ฆI fell in love with data back in the early 90s during my marketing major coursesโ€ฆmarketing research, statistics and statistical process control. I am an American Marketing Association member and have always truly relished marketing throughout my technical career. After a briefing with Datorama, I was shocked to learn how many data sources the average marketer today has to aggregate in reporting.

2017 CMO Focus: What's Next from AI? Intelligent Insights

The burdens on today's CMOs are increasing: they're taking on larger roles and budgets -- while needing insight into an increasingly complex customer journey. Now we must simultaneously understand our customers, keep up with their every move across channels in an increasingly complex customer journey, and take on bigger budgets while adapting to a bigger seat at the executive table, as sales and service will soon roll up into our department. In many respects this has thrust marketers into becoming not only data-literate but also data-fluent practitioners. This means we must be capable of defining the KPIs. We need to ensure that all marketing metrics, be they social, brand health, or email, align with and support our overarching business goals.
